Whatever business you are in, there is a fundamental need to support one of your greatest assets - the people who work there. That's where Human Resources comes in. This workshop provides introduction to the the areas needed to deliver effective HR support to your business. The course outlines, for Managers and Senior Supervisors, the employee journey from a warm welcome, to employee relations and culture and finally saying goodbye.

- An exploration of the function of HR in business and what is involved
- A Warm Welcome
- Recruitment – Vacancies, Job Descriptions, Interviewing, References & Convictions
- Contracts – The purpose of a contract and key elements including rules around pay, hours and holidays, right to work and young workers
- Equality - Discrimination and Protected Characteristics
- Culture & Employee Relations
- Problem Solving - Informal versus Formal action, ACAS Code of Practice - the basics
- Maternity, Paternity & Time off for dependents
- Managing Absence Consistently – Short term and long term absence, Lateness
- Great Communication – Maintaining a healthy dialogue, Performance & Appraisals
- Moving On
- Different ways to end a contract – Dismissal, Redundancy, Retirement, Good leavers and rules on notice and pay
- When is dismissal fair? - 8 stages to a fair process
