The Control of Irrigation
This course is aimed at people working in Horticulture who require skill in Irrigation.
The aim of this course is to provide the participant with a more dynamic understanding of the role of irrigation in producing uniform high quality crops.
The day includes:
- Managing plant irrigation; the frequency and timing, determining irrigation requirements, water sources and water treatment.
- The role of water in the plant; osmosis, capillarity, root environment and transpiration.
- The irrigation system; overhead versus sub irrigation.
- Factors affecting water relations in a healthy plant.
- Substrates and irrigation; uniformity, air filled porosity and wet ability.
